Jack Plues | A Few Twitter Tips

Twitter is a place where you can expand your business as well as start new friendships online. If you use it wisely it can make a difference to your income and your online popularity.

Twitter Tip 1: Re-tweet great tweets

Twitter is the place to share good news as well as letting people know about your own. And by doing that, other Tweeters will begin to share your tweets as well. You don’t have to spend all day on it, you just need to scan through the latest tweets and look there. You can also pick a few people you’re following who always tweet about things that help others and re-tweet their tweets. They will do the same for you if they are following you. Your followers will soon learn that you tweet about things that are useful to them and they will then start letting their followers know about your useful information.

Twitter Tip 2: Use Hashtags if they are needed

If you want to expose your messages to more people then you can use hashtags for that. When people click on a hashtag such as #author it will then show a list of search results of tweets that have used that hashtag in them. That way, if people are looking for anything specific about that hashtag they are ore likely to find it in one of the tweets in the results.

What you should try not to do with the hashtags is start filling your messages with them in an attempt to make them more popular. You still need to pre-sell your message and get the readers to do something rather than just read something filled with hashtags. And going back to tip 1, you want other people to share your message with their followers if they have found that it helps them.

Twitter Tip 3: Look at your competition

You’ll learn a lot by following your competition especially if they have a lot of followers. People are not following them for nothing so you’ll learn a lot from their tweets and then you’ll see why they have so many followers.

You can also start following their followers and they are more likely to follow you back. That is the quickest way to gain more followers yourself as they get notified when you follow them. Because they are following your competition then they should have an interest in you also. If they don’t follow you back and their tweets are of no use or not in any way entertaining then you can just un-follow them.

Have a look at who your competition are following. They must be learning something from them, or they maybe getting some value from their tweets, so you will too.

These are just a few tips to help you get s started and I will do more in future bog posts.
